These statistics average the data from the entire population of Guatemala. Generally speaking, the Mayan people fare significantly worse than the non-indigenous population for all social and economic indicators. It is also important to understand that a majority of the money is in the hands of very few elites, which means that statistics for the average population are more extreme.
