We Got A School
We Got A School

CoEd has assumed ownership of a fully operational college-prep boarding school and university residence house for young women in Guatemala! This investment stems from CoEd’s 2024 Impact Study, interviewing and surveying over 700 current and former Rise students and their families. We learned that more than 90% of Rise graduates want or wanted to study at the university level, but only 24% were able to do so. Responses like these have provided a roadmap to maximizing impact in Guatemala, as guided by program beneficiaries.

By integrating CFM School and Casa Sofia into CoEd, we can provide increased access to quality secondary and higher education opportunities. We are honored to continue the heartfelt and impactful work started by Sisters of the Precious Blood.

CFM School

CFM School, or Centro de Formación Multiple (CFM), means Center for Holistic Education. This boarding school provides a 5-year college preparatory education to 7th-11th grade girls in Guatemala. While it is currently located in a rural area northwest of Guatemala City, a more accessible and centralized campus is underway closer to CoEd’s Education Center and program communities.

With limited space at the current location, a new campus will accommodate additional classrooms and dormitories, tripling capacity and providing a permanent foundation for future generations of young women.

We plan to welcome students into the new facility in January 2029.

Tour the Current School

Casa Sofia

Casa Sofia offers residence housing for young women studying at the university level in Guatemala City. The primary requirement is passing the university entrance exam.

Graduates of CFM School will receive priority admittance. The remaining spots will be open to promising graduates from CoEd’s programs.

Casa Sofia will be undergoing renovations in alignment with CFM School to improve dormitories and shared spaces, create designated study areas, and increase the residence’s capacity from 11 to 20 living spaces by January 2029.

The Impact Initiative

To bring this vision to life, we have launched the Impact Initiative, a capital campaign to strengthen the Rise Youth Development Program and raise funds to expand and integrate CFM School and Casa Sofia into the CoEd fold!
